Slott Pilates
Stott Pilates is a contemporary version of the Pilates method of physical exercise. It was developed by Lindsay and Moira Merrithew with the collaboration of physical therapists, sports medicine and fitness professionals to ensure that the method stays up to date with current scientific and bio-mechanical research.
The most significant difference between Stott Pilates and the Joseph Pilates original method of the early 1900s is that while the original method uses a straight spine during exercise, Stott Pilates focuses on maintaining and/or restoring the natural curves of the spine.
The majority of people are not in full health but are carrying an accumulation of the effects of different traumatic events that have happened to them during the life. Gradually the body may find it more and more difficult to cope with accumulated stresses and symptoms may start to show.
The aim of Stott Pilates is to optimize musculoskeletal performance, strength, flexibility, and endurance without risking injury or building bulk. With a focus on core stability, including pelvic and shoulder girdle stabilization, neutral alignment and breathing, the Stott Pilates method of exercise helps to restore the natural curves of the spine, relieve tension and enhance self-confidence.
The result is a more balanced and aligned body that looks fit, feels revitalized and moves with ease. These are important goals for everybody whether you are an elite athlete, an avid exerciser, rehabilitating an injury or just looking to strengthen and tone up.
